We're home!

We just got home with our 2 kids! We spent 4 days with the kids at a hotel in Haiti, just to get used to each other a bit before getting back to real life. We picked up the visas right before we left Haiti, took 3 flights and a two-hour car ride home, had supper and they are sound asleep (so far, anyway). The girls are in the same bed, jabbering away (even though they don't know any of each other's language - girls; go figure!) The boys are in the boys' room and will hopefully sleep through the night. A little concerned they'll get scared in this new place, but I'm hoping the company of each other will comfort them.

It's been an interesting time getting to know the kids and their personalities, but we are thankful to God that He has brought them home safe and sound. Now we need much wisdom and guidance as we wander the adoption-parenting superhighway. I didn't think it would be that different than parenting our bio kids, but as I was thinking about it, I realized it Has to be different because we haven't had them since their births. Our bio kids have known us and our rules since they were born; therefore, we have usually well-behaved children. These 2 are going to give us a run for our money! And trying to discipline in another language is also hard when you don't know enough of the language! We can kind of get our point across, but the details get a bit foggy. But we're working on it - we'll get there. I know God has a plan - we just keep working to get to where he wants us to be, even if we don't quite know what it is yet :o)

(Pictures to follow - as soon as we have the energy to download them!!)
