(Adoption) 18 months and counting...

I was wrong in my last post. Our file has been in Haiti 18 months instead of 17. Either way, it seems as if it's been an eternity! But I know that when they get home, it will seem very short and definitely worth the wait.

We were tentatively told our file would be out of MOI 4 weeks ago, but we still aren't out. We just found out the other day that our O director is waiting on archived birth certificates that take about a month, and she has been waiting about a month and expects them any day. Evidently, the older the children are, the more the gov't requests archived documents for some reason. So that's just an update for you.

Our case worker visited with the kids about 4 weeks ago and gave the kids a package we had sent down for them, and we got the sweetest picture of them receiving it :o)

Oh, and our "new word list every week" idea fizzled after a few weeks, but we're getting back on the horse tomorrow - I made up noun cards to tape up all over the house. So every time I look in the mirror, I will see an index card that says "glas", etc. So hopefully that will help speed up our learning. At the beginning I thought, "we can learn this language well in a year". Which would probaby work fine, but I would expect that a person needs to actually study a language to learn it :( So here we are, 18 months later, and still don't know more than a few words and phrases of Creole! Shame on us!
